Power, Color and Mounting Height Selection
Choose the laser line projector by mounting height, ambient light, floor color, required line length and whether the line is used for aisle marking, forklift side boundaries, crane travel paths or positioning guidance.
| Model range |
Beam color |
Typical mounting height |
Typical line length |
Best use |
| 10W |
Red or green |
3-5 m |
About 5-10 m |
Small indoor lanes, darker workshops and short-distance positioning. |
| 20W |
Red, green or blue |
5-8 m |
About 10-20 m |
General warehouse aisles, rack corridors and forklift route guidance. |
| 30W |
Green |
8-10 m |
About 10-20 m |
Higher mounting height, brighter factories and larger industrial spaces. |
For sites above 3000 lux, the recommended starting point is normally a 30W green laser line. The practical maximum mounting height is about 10 m; beyond that height, brightness, line width and floor contrast need project confirmation.
1:3 and 1:4 Laser Line Ratio Comparison
The 1:3 and 1:4 labels are installation parameters, not standalone buying keywords. They help estimate the line length from the mounting height and should be checked together with brightness and floor contrast.
| Ratio |
Meaning |
Line character |
Recommended scene |
| 1:3 |
Line length is roughly 3 times the mounting height. |
Usually finer and more controlled. |
Medium or lower installation, smaller aisles and more precise positioning. |
| 1:4 |
Line length is roughly 4 times the mounting height. |
Longer line with a slightly wider visual footprint. |
Higher installation, longer warehouse aisles and larger floor marking areas. |
Line width is normally about 2-3 mm at close range and about 5-8 mm around 10 m, depending on lens, angle and floor condition. Adjustable line width and line length are available on suitable configurations.
Long Line and 70 m Project Limits
Standard line length
A normal 30W green laser line should usually be treated as an about 20 m class solution, depending on installation height and ambient light.
70 m custom line
A 70 m green line is not a standard configuration. It requires a custom high-power green laser, low ambient light, mounting height normally no higher than about 10 m, and acceptance that the line may become wider at long distance.
IP Rating, 24/7 Use and Maintenance
- IP65 is the common industrial protection level; IP67 can be customized for wet, dusty or outdoor projects.
- For oil, dust and outdoor exposure, confirm sealed housing, anti-oil coating, heat dissipation and protective cover requirements.
- 24/7 operation is possible when heat dissipation is adequate and the environment is not excessively hot or blocked by dust.
- A half-year maintenance check is recommended for lens cleaning, bracket stability, cable condition and heat dissipation.
- Avoid direct eye exposure and confirm local laser safety requirements before installation.
Laser Line Projector Buyer FAQ
Which laser color is usually easiest to see on warehouse floors?
Green is usually the first option for floor line visibility in stronger ambient light. Red, blue and yellow can be supplied when the floor color, site standard or contrast requirement calls for another color.
Can a laser line projector work from a 10 m mounting height?
Yes, but 10 m is near the upper practical range for many laser line projects. A 30W green laser line is normally the starting point, and the lux level, target line length and floor color should be checked.
Can it run 24/7?
Yes, if the housing has enough cooling space and the lens, heat sink and ventilation path are kept clean. High-temperature and dusty plants should confirm a stronger heat dissipation plan.
Can it be IP67?
Yes, IP67 can be customized for suitable models. The project should confirm waterproof connector, sealed housing, cable entry and maintenance access before ordering.
What should I send before quotation?
Please send mounting height, required line length, line color, floor color, ambient light, voltage, indoor or outdoor use, photos or video of the site, quantity and target country.
